Japanese restaurant Udagawa in Berlin

Udagawa Berlin

There are a lot of Japanese restaurants that Vietnamese people run in Berlin, Germany.
Few Japanese restaurants are run by Japanese people.
I call them real Japanese restaurants but still, it is not the same as Japanese restaurants in Japan.

A few days ago, I went to Udagawa.
Udagawa is one of the few Japanese restaurants in Berlin, Germany.
Today, I would like to write a review of Udagawa.

Udagawa
Address: Feuerbachstraße 24, 12163 Berlin
Open: 5:30p.m.–10:30p.m.
Close: Tuesday
*Booking only

First, what my boyfriend and I had are as below.
The total is around 110 euro including a tip.

Genmai cha (roasted rice tea) 3 euro
Kirin beer (Japanese beer) 4 euro
Mineral water 2.5 euro
Karaage (5 or 6 pcs of fried chicken) 6 euro
Gyu Yakiniku (rice and salad included) 24 euro
Tempra & Sushi Teishoku (starter, Miso soup, rice and desert included) 60 euro

1.Quality of food of Udagawa

Everything was good.

There was Otoshi which is a special appetizer for free.
It was a surprise.

Karaage was juicy and good.

I shared Sushi with my boyfriend.
Sushi was tasty.

I have to say that I could have eaten more Tempra and rice than the amount I had.
The last time I ate Tempra was a few years ago.
I was expecting more Tempra.
My favorite Tempra were Shrimp Tempra and pumpkin Tempra.
Actually, I love Tempra of sweetpotate my mother used to make since I was a child.

Miso soup was a little bit salty and it was Shiro Miso or mixed Miso.

The meat of Gyu Yakiniku was not Japanese beef Wagyu.
It is from Argentina, the master said.
The taste was Japanese Yakiniku sauce but the quality of meat is not so special.

Desert was full of fruit.
They were very cold.

2.Price of Udagawa

It is expensive in Udagawa.

Starter menu’s prices are not so expensive but normal meal prices are quite pricey.

For me, it is three times more expensive than regular Japanese restaurants in Japan.
If one portion is more, I would appreciate it.

To eat at Udagawa once a year for a special day is okay with the price for me.

3.Atmosphere of Udagawa

Udagawa table

Atmosphere at Udagawa is nice.
I am satisfied with the atmosphere.

Oshibori, which is a small towel for wiping hands, was nice because it reminded me of Japan.

Udagawa is not a huge restaurant.
There are around eight tables there.
All customers looked calm and nice so I can recommend Udagawa for old people as well.

4.Service of Udagawa

I guess there was at least an assistant cook in the kitchen but a man was doing everything which is service and cooking.
Since he is Japanese, he speaks Japanese and German.
His service was polite and friendly enough.

5.Overall of Udagawa

If you eat a lot at Udagawa, it costs.
The price is not the best unless you do not mind spending a lot of money for eating.
Taste, atmosphere and service at Udagawa are nice.
Therefore Udagawa is worth having dinner for a special day.
