Okonomiyaki is one of popular Japanese food coming from Osaka originally.
Okonomiyaki is kind of Japanese pancake but It is not sweet so it is not as a desert.
Okonomi in Japanese means favorite or what you like.
So you can enjoy adding your favorite ingredients like shrinmp, squid and any seafood.
There are a lot of variation of Okonomiyaki.
There are a lot of Okonomiyaki restaurant in Japan costs around 7 to 10 euro.
To cook Okonomiyaki by yourself and to eat Okonomiyaki at restaurant, the both are common.
I think Okonomi sauce and Mayonnaise are the point of Okonomiyaki taste.
It is easy to cook Okonomiyaki.
Everything you have to do is to put, mix and fry.
Here is the recipe how to cook Okonomiyaki.
For 3 portions
Ingredients
a.Dashi (Asian supermarket) 5g
b.Okonomi sauce (Asian supermarket) as much as you want
c.Aonori*dried green seaweed (I got from my colleague) little
d.flour (supermarket) 200g
e.Cabbage (supermarket) a half
f.Mayonase (supermarket) as much as you want
g.Egg (supermarket) 1
h.Backerbsen instead of Tenkasu (supermarket) little
i.Prosciutto (supermarket) 6 slices
j.Katsuobushi*Bonito Flakes (Asian supermarket) little
k.water 200ml (supermarket) little
How to cook Okonomiyaki
1.Cut cabbage small
2.Mix flour, egg and water
3.Add chopped cabbage and Backerbsen to 2 and mix them
4.Put oil little in a pan
5.Fry 3 around 1cm thickness with middle heat for 3 mins
6.Flip over and place Prosciutto on the dough
7.Put lid for around 5 mins with a bit low heat
8.Flip over again and fry with high heat
You can buy Okonomi sauce and Katsuobushi at Asian supermarket.
I could not find Tenkasu and Aonori at Asian supermarket.
Also, I am not sure if you could find thin slices of boneless pork rib in Germany.
So I used Prosciutto insted.
Okonomiyaki has enough carbohydrate because of flour but some Japanese people eat rice with it.
