It is almost the same as meat ball but Hamburg steak is bigger than meat balls.
My boyfriend told me that originally, Hamburg steak came from Hamburg, Germany.
I didn’t know that Hamburg steak is from Germany.
I thought Hamburg steak is originally from Japan.
We call Hamburg steak “Hanbagu” in Japanese.
I like Hamburg steak since I was a child.

Japanese Hamburg steak could be fancy meal, casual and home cooking as well.
There is Japanese Hamburg steak sauce called “Wafu” sauce
which is based on Japanese soy taste and onion with smashed radish.
Wafu means Japanese taste.
Japanese Hamburg steak sauce is fresh and it is not so oily.
It is popular as well as tomato sauce and Demi-glace sauce.
Here is the recipe how to cook Hamburg steak.
For 2 portions
Ingredients
a.Minced meat pork and beef mixed 200g
b.Onion 1-2
c.Carrot (if you want) little
d.ketchup little
e.Bouillon little
f.Salt and pepper little
g.Egg 1
h.Bread crumbs
i.Water 100ml
How to cook Hamburg steak
1.Cut onion and carrot small
2.Put oil in a pot and fry 1 a little bit
3.Put minced meat, egg and bread crumbs a bowl and mix
4.Add 2 into 3 and put salt and pepper
5.Mix 4 well and make ball
6.put oil in a pan and fry meat balls for 3 mins with high heat
7.Flip over the meat balls and put lid for 5 mins
8.Flip over again and add Bouillon, water and ketchup and put lid for 5 mins
9.Flip over the meat balls and mix with sauce in a pan
You can buy all ingredients for Japanese Hamburg steak at any supermarket in Germany.
I usually make potato salad and rice when I eat Japanese Hamburg steak.
For me, Japanese Hamburg steak is special meal.
My mother sometimes cooks stewed tomato Hamburg steak and it is one of my favorite meal.
I want to eat my mother’s Japanese Hamburg steak soon.
