How to send packages abroad from Germany by German post/Deutsche post/DHL
I would like to introduce you how to send packages by DHL and Deutsche Post.
I’m using them a lot at work.
First, make your account at Deutsche Post.
1.Fill the information with form
2.Pay
3.Print the label
4.Attach the label on the cardboard box
5.Go to Deutsche Post with the package.
-The label price depends which country you want to send to.
-You can choose with tracking or without.
For some reasons, sending to Denmark or Austria costs more than Japan
even though those countries are much closer to Germany.
Prices is likely to be changed once a year in January.
-Weight of packages and prices depend on counties as well as Deutsche post.
-The process is the same as Deutsche Post.
-Be careful the size (You can check infomation when you choose the weight)
-Other delivery company I see often in Germany
DPD
Hermes
UPS
GLS
Amazon
I sometimes use those companies when I send domestic packages.
Probably they also have service for sending packages abroad.
Differences between German and Japanese delivery
1.Service industry
Some delivery guys are are not polite.
Some are not friendly with poker face but it’s not a rare case in Germany.
In Japan, there is a thinking “customers are God”.
Most workers who talk or communicate with customers behave friendly with smile or proper enough.
2.Neighbor and package
It often happens that your package is at your neighbor’s place.
And you might be asked to receive a neighbor’s package by a delivery person.
It is possible to refuse receiving neighbor’s packages if you don’t want.
I have never experienced receiving neighbor’s packages in Japan.
There is not that kind of system at all.
I believe that Japan is one of the safest country in the world.
In my opinion, if you know well about your neighbor, then it is fine to receive.
But if you don’t know about your neighbor well, I am not sure to receive neighbor’s packages.
There is a possibility that the neighbor is a pervert or criminal.
It might be risky to receive a package of neighbor or visit a neighbor to receive it.
I am wondering why people in Germany don’t think that way.
(Does someone think about that way?)
It could cause any troubles, couldn’t it?
Probably, German people trust human more than Japanese do.
3.To send a package from Japan to Germany
It is more expensive to send a package from Japan to Germany than from Germany to Japan.
2kg is around 5000 yen which is around 40 euro.
That’s like almost twice expensive.
Once, I exchanged gift with my friend living in Japan.
I was happy to have it but I felt international shipping cost in Japan is too expensive.
Possible or not possible to send packages abroad in Covid-19 situation
