Immigration office in Berlin to extend work Visa in Berlin, Germany
The day came.
I went to Immigration Office Berlin -State Office for Civil and Regulatory Affairs-
Immigration Office -Special Residence Purposes (Landesamt für Einwanderung – Besondere Aufenthaltszwecke).
Address : Keplerstraße 2 10589 Berlin
I brought below.
1.copies and original documents I sent by email
2.Passport
3.Photo size 35mm*45mm
I asked before I go Immigration Office Berlin if I could come with my partner and she told me that I can come with him but
it is not sure that if he could come into the building.
I was thinking the worst case which is like the staff is bully and talk in German only.
That’s why I wanted my partner come with me for safe.
Anyway, we tried coming in the building together.
First, the entrance was just small door and it was not obvious for us so we went through there and walking around a while.
Then, we came back to the entrance and went in.
I have been to other immigration office “Friedrich-Krause-Ufer 24” but “Keplerstraße 2” was totally new for me.
There are some people standing or waiting outside near the entrance Immigration Office Berlin for some reason, by the way.
My booking time was 11a.m.
I think we got the building of immigration office Berlin around 10:55.
There was a security guy to check the body temperatures with a thermometer due to the Covid-19.
His behaviour and response was friendly.
As soon as we got in immigration office Berlin,
I told him that I have an appointment at 11am and he checked our body temperatures with a thermometer.
The checking was literally one second with pointing my forehead and my boyfriend’s neck.
The security guy told us to go to third floor at the building.
We were waiting for 15 mins in waiting room at immigration office and my waiting number showed up on the monitor so we went to the room.
The person in charge seemed nice actually.
He tried saying my family name but he could not pronounce properly but I was relieved because he sounded friendly.
After that, it was just in order and I did as he said.
First, I showed my passport, gave him a photo and told him my height and eye color.
He also got my finger prints by machine.
That’s it.
I got a document that is saying to wait for the VISA card.
And his coworker explained that I should give a copy of it to my boss.
Then, I paid 93 euro by machine.
Total time was around 10 minutes.
Going alone to the immigration office without my boyfriend was also okay in this case.
I was considering what if a staff member at the immigration office asked me to submit some documents that I haven’t prepared.
Or if I was asked about details of the company because the company I made a contract with is new.
It was just built a few months ago. I was thinking about a lot of cases.
I heard from my friends that there are a lot of cases at the immigration office Berlin.
Even if the conditions are the same as someone, it depends on the staff who is working at the immigration office Berlin if or how many years you could get a visa.
I was also thinking about a lucky case like getting a visa for 4 or 5 years.
I am not sure if it is working only for a freelancer but I heard that it is likely to get a one year longer visa these days because of Covid-19 in Berlin, Germany.
Anyway, I will get German Visa card in few weeks and the period is three years.
It was no good surprise but no bad surprise as well at the immigration office in Berlin.
It was okay.
