Beer is popular alcohol in Japan especially by businessman.
People who are over 20 years old are allowed to drink alcohol by Japanese law.
If you look younger than 20 years old, the shop worker might ask you to show your ID to buy alcohol at supermarkets or convenience stores.
It is not allowed to drive a car after drinking alcohol in Japan.
The current Road Traffic Law in Japan stipulates penalties for drunk driving when the alcohol concentration per liter of exhaled breath is more than 0.15 mg.
Even if the alcohol concentration is below the reference value, it might be able to affect to drive.

It seems it is hard to book or buy it because a lot of people in Japan want it.

Suntory is also famous for whiskeys, also Suntory has the biggest market for whiskeys in Japan.

Japanese Happoshu
Happoshu is low-malt beer and it is a tax category of Japanese liquor that often refers to a beer-like beverage with less than 67% malt content.
When the amount of malt is used less than 50%, it is a low malt beer called Happoshu.
Many beer company produce Happoshu and it is also common to drink Happoshu as well as beer in Japan.
The price of Happoshu is relatively cheaper than beer in Japan.
Happoshu which contains 350ml costs around 130 yen.
German beer
To be honest, I am not a big fan of beer in spite of that there are a lot of kind of beer in Europe especially in Germany.
Convenience shops and supermarkets have tons of beer.
Prices depends on the product, however it is around 50 cent to 1.5 euro for one bottle which is 750ml.
People are allowed to drink beer after 16 years old and some kind of strong alcohol are allowed to drink from 18 years old by German law in Germany.
Personally, I like Radler which is beer and lemon liquid mixed e.g. as below.

In Japan, It is common to pour beer from glass bottle or can into a glass.
Take two or three beer with you and go to a park with friend and do a picnic.
That’s Berlin, Germany style.
In Japan, I have never seen people drinking beer in a park.
Japanese people usually drink beer or the other alcohol at casual restaurants, bars or at home.
